As the countdown to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues, England’s national women’s football team, known as the Lionesses, are ramping up their preparations with a series of high-profile friendlies, including the England-Sweden Match at New York Venue on Sunday 11 November. The Lionesses will be taking on their tough opposition at Rotherham’s New York Stadium, promising an exciting match for all.

AESSEAL New York Stadium: A Popular Venue for Women's Football

Rotherham’s New York Stadium will host Sweden as England prepares for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The international match will take place on Sunday, November 11 at 13:30.  The AESSEAL New York Stadium has previously hosted several women’s and development team fixtures, including a Euro 2017 qualifier between England and Belgium, which drew over 10,000 spectators. 

The stadium is also one of nine venues in The FA’s bid to host the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 finals. In addition, it recently hosted the men’s U17 European Championships.

This fixture follows a match against Brazil at Notts County’s Meadow Lane and a match against Australia at Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham.

Phil Neville to Test Lionesses Against Tough Sweden in New York Stadium

Phil Neville, head coach of England Lionesses, said: “This is another exciting fixture as part of our early preparations for next summer’s World Cup. Sweden is a strong side, currently sitting eleventh in the world rankings. It’s important to select these tough opponents who will test us in the build-up to the tournament.”

Early bird tickets are available until October 14, priced at £7.50 for adults and £1 for children. From October 15, the price of an adult ticket goes up to £10, with children’s tickets remaining at £1. Tickets for all fixtures are available on the FA website.

My daughter, who is a sports scholar and my sport inspiration, wants to play Lacrosse for GB. She is currently in the under 19 pathway and is 16 years old, practicing hard to join!
